REST is seeking **Board Members **who want to join an active and committed board. REST

Centres’ Board of Directors contributes their wealth of knowledge in their area of specialization to advance the organization’s mission and goals.

First established in 2015, REST Centres is a Black-led, BIPOC serving charitable organization providing transitional housing support services to youth experiencing or at-risk of homelessness.

In less than ten years of operation, REST has established itself as an important organization helping to prevent and end youth homeless in the Peel Region. Today REST serves over 200 black youth ages 16-24 annually, through a variety of programs built upon its four service pillars:
Shelter, Living, Healing and Growing.

REST stands out for its specific focus on the needs of Black youth. The vision of the organisation is to empower youth to live healthier and happier lives, with support and opportunities to contribute to a better society.

**The Role**:

- Serve as a member of a collegial body that is committed to ensuring black youth have wrap-around support to provide greater chances of sustained independent living.
- Provide input, advice, and guidance to the direction of the organization.
- Participate fully in decision making activities.
- Raise the profile of REST in the Region.
- Build relationships with existing and potential stakeholders.
- 2-year board membership commitment to REST Centres
- Attend all bi-monthly board meetings and applicable committee meetings, plus annually at a combined AGM and strategic planning session
- Attendance at conferences and seminars as required for board members
- Support of and participation in the organization’s events and fund-raising initiatives

**Qualifications**:

- An understanding of the community we serve and a passion for our cause.
- Business leadership experience
- Collaborative, servant leadership work style
- NFP Board experience is an asset
- A deep network of senior business and/or funding decision-makers and influencers is an asset
- Previous governance experience is an asset.
- Financial and/or business experience.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 36 months

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
