**Position Qualifications**:

- University degree in a related field (e.g. Sociology, Psychology, Social Work) plus specialization in

addiction counseling.
- Registered with a professional college
- Minimum 2-3 years related experience providing counseling with a concentrated focus on addictions

and substance abuse.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and implement treatment plans designed on the basis of a

thorough assessment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of treatment interventions and willingness to stay up to date on

current and emerging developments in the treatment of substance use and addiction, including but not
limited to, recovery and harm reduction philosophies, relapse prevention and utilization of multi
- disciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver and develop group counseling sessions
- Demonstrated time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in standard case management software and basic computer skills.
- Valid Class G drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide comprehensive psycho-social assessments of clients to support a holistic model of recovery.
- Formulate and implement treatment plans designed on the basis of a thorough assessment.
- In collaboration with clients, formulate treatment goals and the steps necessary to achieve such goals.
- Provide individual counselling to treatment clients.
- Develop and deliver group counselling and psychoeducational sessions.
- Maintain proficiency in current and emerging developments in the treatment of substance use and
- addiction.- Network and foster partnerships with other community support providers (CMHA, CAMHS, etc.) to

maintain awareness of community resources and to identify gaps in service.
- Excellent assertiveness and leadership skills as well as the ability to take initiative.
- Adherence to all health and safety policies, procedures and provisions and the recognition and reporting

of unsafe hazards and work practices.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.

**Hours of Work**:
Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. Some evening work required
