WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The Health Information Management Professional is responsible for ensuring accurate coding and abstracting of all patient charts (DAD and NACRS) while maintaining confidentiality of personal health information.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

- Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management Program required
- Current certification as member in good standing with CHIMA required

WHO YOU ARE:

- Proficient ICD-10-CA and CCI coding skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of CMGs, RIWs, Case Complexity and CACS
- Demonstrated knowledge and abilities related to computerized abstracting, systems (e.g. Med2020)
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of the Microsoft office suite and good computer skills
- Demonstrated customer focused/driven attitude and positive customer philosophy
- Accurate keyboarding skills (40 wpm)
- Able to use standard office equipment including a computer, laser printer, label printer, fax machine, multifunction photocopier, calculator, and telephone. (Option to add other department specific equipment to the list)
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and follow current privacy regulations.
- Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively over the telephone, with patients/families, staff and physicians and the community
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and use good judgement when making decisions
- Demonstrated good team work skills and ability to work collaboratively and promote a positive attitude within the team
- Excellent organizational, problem solving and time management skills in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations
- Demonstrated ability to work with precision and accuracy with attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated patience and flexibility to support multiple client demands
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task when facing multiple demands in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to maintain good attendance and punctuality
- Ability to remain calm during emergency situations and carefully follow code procedures
- Demonstrated ability to complete work accurately and meet deadlines
- Experience with Epic and Med2020 software is preferable
