**Job Description**:
Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Practice, and in collaboration with the program leadership team, the Clinical Scholar will support and mentor the transition of newly graduated nurses, internationally educated nurses and nurses transitioning their practice to a new specialty area. The Clinical Scholar will provide mentorship to support nursing practice in accordance with organizational policies and professional standards. To accomplish this, the Clinical Scholar will take an active role by working closely with these identified groups of nurses to provide coaching, training and support in their transition into the clinical setting.

Accountabilities:

- Support newly graduated nurses, internationally trained nurses and nurses transitioning to a new specialty area to enable their integration into the clinical area in accordance with organizational and professional standards
- Provide clinical training and learning resources, using various delivery methods in accordance with organizational and unit policies/practices/guidelines
- Physical presence on the clinical unit(s) to support the education, training and development of mentees including tracking, auditing and documenting of skills and competencies
- Provide ongoing monitoring and evaluation of mentees
- Identify practice gaps and learning needs and formulate action plans to support improvement
- Serve as a liaison between unit leadership and Professional Practice

**Qualifications**:

- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario required or nurses who are retired and remain registered in good standing
- Minimum of five years recent frontline experience in the area of practice in which they are providing mentorship is required
- BCLS required
- Previous experience teaching, working with clinical learners, and/or precepting
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and strong conflict resolution skills
- Comprehensive understanding of professional practice standards and College of Nurses standards of practice are required
