Durham, Canada Camp Creek Trout Farm Full time

Camp Creek Trout Farm of Durham (West Grey), Ontario is seeking a full-time aquaculture technician. Camp Creek is a family owned and operated rainbow trout hatchery established in 1980. We purchase eggs, raise them in the RAS (recirculation system) up until the fry are about 2 grams, then they are placed into covered raceways. Once they reach anywhere from 10-150 grams, they are shipped to net pen farms. We operate a continuous production, therefore tasks such as: picking eggs and mortalities, monitoring and feeding fish, checking oxygen levels, vacuuming and fish husbandry; are done routinely. Some manual labour is required in these activities, but we utilize labour saving equipment such as a fish pump, grader and counter. Paperwork is also a necessity and will be required to be filled out accurately and promptly. Punctuality is expected. Water quality testing is also performed on a routine basis. We have an R.V.T. on staff who does our microscope work for disease and parasite diagnosis so we are able to treat or medicate fish promptly.

We are seeking a motivated individual who can learn quickly and work well independently. Previous aquaculture or other farm experience would be an asset, but not a requirement. We are looking for a long-term employee who enjoys small town country living.
