**About Our Opportunity**:
We are looking for a post-secondary student to work with a passionate team of professional staff to assist with youth and public outreach programs and events through the Natural Resources Education Centre and our Provincial Parks. Our core focus is connecting department information and messaging to teachers, educators, youth and the general public through our education programs. **Primary Accountabilities**:
As the Natural Resources Education Centre outreach summer student, you will work a passionate team of professionals who engage with department staff and the public around the province to coordinate and deliver our department Outreach and Education programs. Some of the work you will be involved in includes:

- Delivery of the Parks Education program in provincial parks throughout the province
- Implementation and expansion of self-led QR programs in Provincial Parks
- Create, post and monitor social media content
- Website content development
- Assist with the 2023 Youth Hunting Camp (hunting, fishing and outdoor skills camp for youth)
- Working with department staff to organize and deliver a wide variety of outreach and education programs at various events

The NREC in Middle Musquodoboit has a 120-acre managed woodlot and 3km of hiking trails where you will assist with maintenance and upkeep (including mowing, whipper snipping, trail and facilities maintenance).

This is an opportunity for you to participate in and collaborate with a passionate team of professional and technical staff on special projects or assignments; helping you further enhance and develop your skills.

**Qualifications and Experience**:
To be successful in this role, you must have the following:

- Currently enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program infields such as (but not limited to) education, natural resource management, outdoor recreation or other related discipline and returning to school in fall 2023
- Proficiency in using standard Microsoft office programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook and MS Teams
- Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), time management and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, taking the initiative to manage your own work
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

The following are considered assets:

- Presentation and public speaking experience
- Having valid standard first aid training
- Social Media and Website design experience

We will assess the above qualifications using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

**Working Conditions**:
This position will be a combination of office and field work throughout the province. Overnight, evening and weekend work will be required along with working in varying weather conditions, attending public spaces and events.

**Additional Information**:
The location of this position is based at the Natural Resources Education Centre in Middle Musquodoboit. The earliest start date will be May 1, 2023 with an anticipated end date of August 18, 2023.

Employees must supply their own safety boots.

**Pay Grade**:_ _HOURLY

**Salary Range**:_ _$16.75 - $27.30 Hourly
