**About the Position**:
The **Sustainability Analyst, Emissions & Zero Waste** will support the advancement and integration of Explore Edmonton’s carbon inventory and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Reduction Plan. Working closely with the Director of Social and Environmental Sustainability, they play a key role in corporate carbon measurement and verification protocols. They are responsible for continuous improvement of internal processes related to environmental reporting, ensuring alignment with the GHG protocol, BOMA Best Standards, Zero Waste International principals and other applicable standards. The Sustainability Analyst delivers excellent customer services and a consultative approach to Explore Edmonton clients (event planners, rights holders) in helping to measure and deliver on their sustainability goals. Due to the quickly evolving nature of the Explore Edmonton sustainability strategy, the Emissions Analyst may be asked to take on other tasks depending on the company’s needs. The Emissions Analyst models Explore Edmonton core values & positively contributes to organizational culture.
- Build frameworks, processes and capacity building tools for managing environmental reporting needs (including GHGs, waste, utilities, etc.)
- Complete annual carbon reporting including Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 inventories for three Explore Edmonton locations
- Develop, test and maintain data collection and verification processes in alignment with relevant standards/ criteria (Ex. GHG protocol, Zero Waste International, BOMA, etc.)
- Support clients participating in the Explore Edmonton Carbon Neutral Program with their data collection planning
- Advocates for and champions the strategic sustainability goals both externally and internally throughout Explore Edmonton.
- Delivers training, internally and externally, to raise awareness for sustainability initiatives
- Working closely with the marketing and communication team, oversee the development of publicly available emissions reductions plans and content around corporate commitments to climate resiliency and environmental excellence
- Providing training support, reports or summaries to the team and stakeholders to make the best decisions by informing them with relevant learnings
- Collaborate with City of Edmonton Energy Transition and Climate Resilience and Adaptation divisions including attending City of Edmonton engagement sessions, city council meetings (where applicable) and workshops.
- Complete all annual requirements for the City of Edmonton Corporate Climate Leaders Program and Building Benchmarking Program
- Support on data requirements and submission package for venue sustainability certifications (Greenkey, ASTM APEX, BOMA Best, Climate Smart)
- Support the certification/recertification of the facilities Zero Waste Plan.
- Regular consultation with program administrators, account advisors and verifiers. Attend virtual and in-person events for program participants.
- Minimum 3 years related experience
- A university degree, ideally in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Energy Engineering, Economics or sustainability-related disciplines
- Ability to collect and analyze information, problem-solve, and make decisions. Detecting patterns, interpreting data, metrics interpreting and reporting.
