We deliver pharmaceuticals, food, flowers and other items. 40 to 65 hours/ wk (by driver's preference). Paid weekly.
Bonus pay or bonus rate offered for an excellent attendance record, working holidays (not all), coming in for additional (optional) hours eg. a short-notice shift, staying late.
Day couriers and pizza delivery drivers with many years of experience and outstanding attendance are highly-valued recruits and may be eligible for a starting bonus and somewhat higher pay.
Experience valued but not required.
**Scheduling**
Drivers can choose among these scheduling options...
- start between 9:30 and 11
- end between 7 pm and 10 pm
- 4-6 days per week
Part time positions with additional scheduling options are also available. (Separate Indeed listing)
Weekends are not required but are available eg. if you want your days off to be during the week or want more than 55 hours per week. (We are open for normal hours Saturday and Sunday)
We can hold your preferred hours for you on an ongoing basis and adjust the amount up or down to your preference. In general, our goal is to create a good work environment and experience to have a chance at having you with us long-term (1 year and up). Our longest tenured drivers are 17 and 7 years and we have several drivers at 2-3 years. 6 months can be great too. (If it doesn't work out for you or you move on to another job that's no problem but if you know that you just need eg. 1 or 2 months of work, this isn't a fit)
**Pay**
Pay is per delivery. Note that on an hourly basis, the earnings are mid-level for a delivery job and it would be more than full-time hours to earn $900 and more per week.
While moving (excluding down-time), the net/ true/ after-gas profit will be approximately $18/ hr before 4 pm and $22 per hour after 4 pm (including tips). Some drivers earn higher due to a fuel-efficient car, efficiency and above-average tips. All drivers will have some $25-$30/ hr shifts.
The parked time is far less than working with a delivery app. At least half of shifts have zero parked time (other than for a break) and more than 75% of shifts are less than 15% parked time. (it depends on the season and the day of the week). You are free to do as you please and hold wherever you want to during downtime.
Drivers are paid weekly by e-transfer (cash is possible but may be bi-weekly. Can discuss).
**Requirements**:
- your own vehicle
- phone with a data plan
- comfortable with customer interactions (this isn't like driving a truck. There are lots of interactions with other humans)
- reliable vehicle. And able and willing to have vehicle your repaired relatively punctually when there's a problem.
- can handle some stress. Stress is infrequent but it can come in bunches. Having poise is necessary.
**Responsibilities **(other than delivering)
- following the dispatchers instructions, routes and route changes
- obtaining signatures
- making change for some customers who pay cash (approximately 15 percent of deliveries)
**Additional**
If you're looking for a driver job, consider working with a local business. We've been going daily for 18 years (other than Xmas and boxing days) and we take our work seriously. Dispatchers and the owner/ manager (myself) are respectful, reasonable and available. I'm also happy to act as a job reference or write a reference letter for you if you move on to your next job. This, and more, are benefits that you can't get from a delivery app.
