**Underground Utilities**:
Our Underground Utilities division is an approved City of Calgary contractor with a variety of city projects in its portfolio. Each member of North Star’s management team has over 25 years of solid industry experience, guaranteeing the highest quality of product and service. North Star has proven itself to be a successful deep utility service company capable of handling any large-scale project.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Must be able to operate an Excavator and safely excavate around utilities and mains.
- Complete daily preventative maintenance checks on equipment.
- Read grade plans and understands grade stakes.
- Be able to meet or beat productions.
- Behave in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves, their co-workers, and others on the work sites.
- Assists other employees when required.
- Reports incidents, injuries, and near misses and participates in the investigative process.
- Behave in a manner that ensures the safety of themselves, their co-workers, and others on the work sites.
- Refuse and reports unsafe work, unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries, and near misses to the supervisor and participate in the investigative process.
- Attends and participates in toolbox and safety committee meetings as scheduled.
- Comply with established company policies and procedures and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Minimum 3 years experience as an Excavator Operator.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operations and site activities.
- Underground utility experience within the City of Calgary is preferred.
- Active Standard First Aid Certification.
- Construction Safety Training System (CSTS2020) Certification.
- Ground Disturbance 201
- Knowledge of heavy equipment (excavators/loaders).
- Must have own transportation with strong knowledge of Calgary and surrounding area.
- Self-motivated and able to complete tasks with mínimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication and reliability.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Must be able to work as a member of a greater team.

**Work Environment and Physical Requirements**:

- Must be available to work long hours including evenings and weekends during the work season from April to December.
- Must be able to work in extreme heat up to and could exceed 64 Celsius.
- Must have CSA-approved safety boots.

**Education**:

- Safety courses will be required upon hire.
- Additional education or work experience is considered an asset.
