Steelworker Supervisor

Fabmar Metals, is an industrial and marine fabrication and machining shop, specializing in ship repair/fabrication, pressure vessel fabrication, custom machining, structural steel and plate work, and conveyor systems.

Working on industrial and marine projects, the Steelworker Supervisor evaluates, directs, and executes the fabrication, installation, and welding of various parts/materials.

**Responsibilities**:

- Communicate work plans/instructions, allocate work, and craft task schedules (e.g., weekly, biweekly, monthly)
- Supervise, lead, train, and manage allotted manpower
- Read/interpret drawings and specifications to understand the scope of work
- Oversee and assist with the following duties:

- Operate manual and semi-automatic Stick, Flux-Core, MIG and TIG welders to fuse metal segments
- Operate manual and semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
- Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers
- Operate or assist with the use of metal shaping machines such as shears, brakes and other straightening or bending machines.
- Set up/ take down/maintain welding equipment
- Other duties as required

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Minimum 5 year’s experience in a Steelworker supervisor role in a construction or maintenance settings
- Minimum 5 years of Welding/Fitting experience
- Red Seal Welder or Metal Fabricator an asset
- Strong understanding of various welding techniques
- Ability to operate various fabrication equipment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ship repair experience preferred
- CWB Certified is preferred
