**Position Status**: Casual**Employee Group**: Non**Rate of Pay**: $19.70 per hour**Posting Closing Date**: 1/15/25- The job works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assist students in learning and developing skills in the areas of socialization, communication, and behavior. The job also provides general support in the classroom.
- Job Responsibilities:

- Assist teacher with planning, preparing, and implementing programs to meet student needs
- Organize classroom materials, activities, equipment, and programs
- Assist multi-disciplinary team with the implementation of developmental strategies
- Behaviour management
- Provide a range of personal and physical care
- Assist co-workers during peak periods and absences
- Qualifications:

- High School diploma plus certificate/diploma in an area related to early childhood education or special needs education, plus one year directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and qualifications
- Knowledge of intervention techniques and strategies, first aid, CPR, and administering medication
- Knowledge of Microsoft programs including Word, Outlook, and the internet
- Ability to communicate with sensitivity, diplomacy, and tact is essential- Ability to effectively communicate in the English language both oral and written with the ability to develop and maintain communication with students, teachers, and specialists- Ability to travel to sites within Edmonton- Fluency in French, Spanish, Ukrainian, or knowledge and understanding of the Cree language and culture, is an asset.

**Individuals fluent in French, Spanish, Ukrainian, or who demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the Cree language and culture are encouraged to apply. Language programming within the Division include**:
**French Immersion programming at twelve (12) sites,**Nehiyaw Pimatisiwin Cree Language and Culture programming at six (6) sites,**Ukrainian Bilingual programming at four (4) sites,**Spanish Bilingual programming at seven (7) sites.**
