**0.5 Temporary PLAR Central Secretary (CUPE-Office Clerical & Technical)**

**Effective Immediately to June 28, 2024**

**Location**: Laurentian Learning Centre

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum Grade 12 education
- 1-3 years secretarial experience in a school environment
- Knowledge and experience with Secondary School processes is considered an asset
- Demonstrated expertise with PLAR and equivalent credits for mature students

**Skills Required**:

- Familiarity with PPM 132 and PPM 129 would be considered an asset
- Ability to assess student status and determine eligibility for PLAR
- High level of competence in secretarial and general office procedures
- Proficient in the use of MS Office especially Excel and Student Information System (SIS) Programs
- Sound knowledge of Student Attendance and Report Card Programs (Edsby)
- Knowledge and experience using Board accounting and financial systems (KEV, K212 Finance) is considered an asset
- Knowledge of school budget procedures is considered an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Exceptional organizational skills

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Create reports and use queries in SIS to determine mature student eligibility
- Consult with Central PLAR teacher and Principal of Alternative and Continuing Education
- Maintain updates for student progress with secondary student services teams
- Register and flag accepted PLAR students in SIS and utilize Ministry accepted centralized tracking documentation
- Input and track equivalent courses in SIS for students in all Secondary Schools
- Record funding generated by PLAR for Continuing Education Registrar
- Generate reports and compile student data on an ongoing basis
- Communicate effectively and promptly for student equivalent course completion to Secondary School staff

**Additional Central Secretary Responsibilities**:

- Assist with ONSIS reporting at Secondary Schools
- Assist IT team with data validation on various platforms
- Provide Helpdesk support for Edsby and PowerSchool users
- Importing and Exporting of data to/from PowerSchool
- Assist IT team with daily school procedures
- **Assist with IT projects that relate to PowerSchool, School Messenger and Edsby**:

- Backup for Safe School arrival calls when schools have a Casual Secretary

**Rate**:$26.13 per hour
