**Position Overview**:
Penny Appeal Canada is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Special Events Coordinator as part of the Canada Summer Jobs program. The Special Events Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of various special events and fundraising initiatives throughout the summer months.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the planning and execution of special events, including but not limited to fundraising galas, community engagement activities, and awareness campaigns.
- Coordinate logistics for events, including venue selection, vendor management, catering, equipment rentals, and transportation.
- Work closely with internal teams and external partners to develop event timelines, budgets, and promotional materials.
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers for event support and ensure proper training and orientation.
- Provide on-site support during events, including setup, registration, guest assistance, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct post-event evaluations and analysis to assess outcomes, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to events, including budgets, expenses, and participant data.

**Qualifications**:

- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program or recent graduate (within the last year).
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, volunteers, and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and resourceful, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Experience in event planning, fundraising, or volunteer coordination is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with event management software/tools is preferred.
- Knowledge of and passion for humanitarian and charitable work is an asset.
