The Township of Oro-Medonte

requires a

Environmental Services Technician

Reporting to the Environmental Services Supervisor the Environmental Services Technician will join the Environmental Services Department intent on maintaining a superior level of service to the public.

KNOWLEDGE:

- 2-year post-secondary Environmental Engineering Technology Diploma combined with three years related drinking water/wastewater operator experience;
- At minimum, possess Class 2 Water Distribution and Supply Certification;
- At minimum, possess Class 1 Wastewater Treatment and Class 1 Wastewater Collection Certification but capable of passing required testing for higher level certification;
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of environmental health and safety legislation, regulations, procedures and guidelines including but not limited to: Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Ontario Regulations (as amended) 128, 129, 169, and 170, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Traffic Management Section 7 of the Highway Traffic Act as well as other statues to monitor program delivery and ensure compliance;
- Possession of Water Meter Installer Certification, DZ license and/or ability to operate heavy equipment is considered an asset.

Applicants **must hold and maintain a valid ‘G’ driver’s license **and the ability to work well in a team setting. The successful applicant must live within approximately 30 kilometres of the Township boundary, being available to participate in the on-call rotational schedule and related overtime, including acting as Operator-in-Charge of all drinking water and wastewater systems during the on-call period.

This is a bargaining unit position and offers a salary commensurate with experience and education (2023 salary range $36.31 to $43.66/hour) plus a competitive and attractive benefit package.
