**J**OB SUMMARY**
Reporting to the Manager of Communications, the Inuit Youth Public Engagement Intern helps facilitate visits by the public to a temporary exhibit at 100 Wellington Street in Ottawa. Co-managed by the Métis National Council, Assembly of First Nations (AFN) and Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK), 100 Wellington is an important gathering and meeting space, and a place for Canadians to learn about Inuit culture, history and self-determination.
The incumbent(s) will help guide visitors to the space and answer questions about Inuit. They will support ITK in promoting awareness and understanding of Inuit culture, heritage and history. This includes engaging with diverse communities to understand their interests and needs, and fostering community engagement. Additionally, maintaining strong relations with partner organizations and providing feedback on program effectiveness are integral aspects of the role.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Engage with members of the public to share information about Inuit in Canada and Inuit culture
- Create a welcoming environment that supports learning opportunities guests;
- Connect individuals or organizations seeking to enhance their cultural competency and ability to work effectively in multicultural environments to resources;
- Work a Wednesday to Sunday schedule that includes weekend and evening hours, not to exceed a 35-hour week.
- Where time allows, work with ITK Communications staff to plan, coordinate, and execute cultural events, workshops, exhibitions, or programs aimed at educating the general public on Inuit culture at 100 Wellington;
- Other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Knowledge of Inuit Regions, history, and political structure
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook)
- Basic photography and video skills
- Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances
- Friendly, welcoming and personable
- Well-spoken and clear communicator
- Sensitive and empathetic
EXPERIENCE
- Experiencing demonstrating Inuit culture would be an asset
EDUCATION
- Enrolled in College or University (Grade 12 graduates accepted)
