St. Andrew’s United Church (95 Darling Street, Brantford) is a busy church in the heart of Brantford’s downtown. We are seeking an individual with experience in building maintenance, a self-starter who is well organized and able to work positively with staff, congregation, contractors and rental groups.

The responsibilities of the custodian will include but not be limited to:

- Performing all necessary housekeeping services in the facilities to include, but not limited to cleaning and sanitizing restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures; sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers; cleaning offices; etc.
- outdoor maintenance including garbage pickup, light gardening, snow removal/salting, etc.
- Assist with the setup of facilities for church services, meetings, conferences, events, programs, classrooms, etc
- Working with the property committee to ensure proper maintenance of the buildings. This includes monthly Life Safety tests and checks: Fire Alarm, Emergency Lighting, Fire Extinguishers, Exit Lights, etc.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Willing to work 25hrs/week, Monday—Friday, 2:00-7:00pm and be willing to work additional paid hours as events, rentals, weddings, funerals, etc. are booked.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work on his/her own
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Ability to accept responsibility
- Courteous; have the ability to interact with members of the congregation, church staff, service personnel, and rental groups
- Possesses handyman skills for maintenance and minor repairs as required
- Capable of heavy lifting
- Must be extremely safety-conscious with the ability to follow directions and attention to detail
- Current police check including vulnerable sector
- Knowledge of WHIMIS; health and safety training and first aid/CPR an asset

This position is a limited-term, 6-month contract with the possibility for extension. This position is for 25-hours per week, $16.55/hour with the possibility of additional work as rentals, weddings, funerals, etc. are booked.

**Experience**:
