**Salary**: $26.00 - $30.00+ per hour (negotiable depending on experience)

Cordova Bay Preschool is a bright and cheerful parent-participation preschool with a philosophy of “learning through play”. This philosophy provides children with the opportunity to learn about interacting with friends in a playful, open environment and encompasses social, emotional, intellectual, language, physical and social development. It also provides parents with an opportunity to participate in their child’s first school experience. Our lead ECE is retiring after 18 years with our preschool. We have a bright and welcoming space where you can implement a thoughtful and rewarding program. Everything you need to run a successful program is available and ready to go. We have a long term ECE-A and a committed group of parent volunteers that help run the preschool.

Cordova Bay Cooperative Preschool is located in Cordova Bay and is a member of the
Vancouver Island Cooperative Preschool Association.

The ECE is responsible for providing a preschool program that uses developmentally appropriate practices in a safe physical environment. The ECE works to develop partnerships with parents and supports the administration of the preschool.

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS

1. Reports directly to the duly elected parent executive. Responsible to the entire membership.
2. Directs and supervises participating parent assistants.
3. Supervises and directs volunteers and practicum students when their participation is mutually agreeable to the preschool and the ECE

TYPICAL DUTIES

1. Implements a children's program that provides experiences that promote social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Program will be based on a
“learning through play” philosophy.
2. Evaluates children's program.
3. Provides orientation for parent participants.
4. ECE speaks at general meetings to educate and inform parents on matters relating to the program.
5. Provides education and support to ECE substitutes.
6. Maintains health and safety regulations in order to meet licensing requirements.
7. VIHA Health and Safety Guidelines are being met.
8. Maintains professional development in order to meet licensing requirements.
9. ECE attends professional development programs relating to early childhood education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Meets the qualification required by Provincial Child Care Facilities Licensing, including the completion of an Early Childhood Educator Certificate.
2. Has a minimum of two years experience leading programs in a preschool or daycare setting; experience in a parent participation preschool would be an asset.
3. Has a proven ability to develop positive relationships with children.
4. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and to educate and work cooperatively with adults.
5. Effective communication skills and conflict resolution abilities.
6. Has a commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
7. Holds current Standard First Aid and CPR qualifications.
8. As a licensed care program, applicant must be 19 years of age.
9. As a licensed care program, the successful applicant will require a statement signed by a medical practitioner indicating that the person is physically and psychologically capable of working with children.
10. Consent to a Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check for working with children.

PROGRAM HOURS: M, W, F 9:15 - 1:15 (8:45am start 1:45 finish)
Tu, Th 9:15 - 12:15 (8:45am start 12:45 finish)
(with approx 10 additional administrative hours)
- Program typically follows District school days and closures. There will be program breaks during_
- Christmas, Spring Break and summer holidays_.
