Marine Biologist

The position requires the successful applicant to be based out of Campbell River, BC and will require travel to other areas of Vancouver Island and the adjacent mainland coast.

**Qualifications**:
/ or on weekends and be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Camp work may be required.
The ability to be flexible with scheduling at short notice is an asset.
Desirec qualifications include:

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant discipline (biology, ecology, resource management or environmental science), or comparable education and experience
- Professional designation (RBTech, RPBio)
- Minimum three years relevant experience with marine assessments
- First aid with CPR component and MedA3
- Boat operator certification (SVOP) and radio operator’s certificate
- Demonstrated experience operating 22-24ft crew boats.
- Familiar with operating boat electronics (GPS, radar, vhf radio etc).
- Ability to work smaller tiller drive boats (ie whaler, zodiac).
- ROV and / or drone operating experience.
- Familiarity with (BC) coastal marine species and habitats
- Knowledge around regulatory requirements for marine based projects.
- Valid electroshocking certification
- Valid swiftwater rescue technician training (minimum Level 1)
- Experience with data management and report preparation
- Exceptional organization, communication, and time management skills
- Ability to adapt to unexpected project and schedule changes and support other staff members as needed.
