**General Function**:
**Responsibilities**:
1. Plans and organizes the production activities, meeting budgeted standards, acceptable quality and scheduled outputs. Reports to the Production Manager and major concerns or variances with related causes which might be affecting production.

2. Ensures batch output based on established production schedule, reporting and rescheduling batches that are not produced according to the schedule.

3. Direct and ensure that Production employees, old and new, receive the established training in the maintenance of a safe, efficient and quality operation. Audit back shifts for the same.

4. Insures product quality on all operating processes, providing assistance to ensure Company specified quality levels are understood and maintained. Working in conjunction with the Quality Control Department, and assists in the resolution of Production Variances.

5. If there are multiple production shifts, coordinates inter-shift procedures and communication thereby ensuring a smooth and efficient operation. Audits performance of shifts through a review of production activity reports.

6. Ensures production personnel are compliant with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

7. Maintain plant cleanliness and housekeeping at the acceptable levels. Enforces “clean as you go”, HACCP, and safety policies on the production floor.

8. Initiate reviews of processes to improve efficiencies, reduce cost and turn times while maintaining high industry standards of quality and safety.

9. Ensure all work performed is in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, company requirements and those required by customer contracts.

10. Assist in updating and/or creating new operating procedures, job descriptions, training and on-line inspection procedures and checklists, as necessary for Production.

11. Responsible for monitoring non inventory supplies. Place order through Purchasing in a timely manner to ensure supplies as needed.

12. Maintain plant security procedures as related to Production personnel and security of the plant.

13. Responsible for the conduct and performance of Production personnel and address employee-related problems in accordance with Company policies.

14. Develop a positive management-oriented attitude amongst Production staff.

15. Ensures company required production documentation is created on time and accurately.

16. Facilitates and leads weekly Supervisors meetings, communicating expectations and concerns.

17. Prepares plant for all inspections and company audits.

18. Other duties as assigned.

**A) Knowledge and Experience**

1. Post-secondary education, or equivalent.

2. Expert working knowledge of production operation with strong abilities in the following areas: organization, communication, supervision, manufacturing operation, and administration.

3. Five (5) years’ experience in a senior supervisory capacity in the manufacturing of GMP regulated products or related fields.

**B) Supervision**
- Hourly employees in his/her department(s)

**C) Authority**
- Fiscal budgeted production outputs at budgeted labour standards.
- Safety and conduct of Production personnel.
- To initiate action to prevent the occurrence of non-conformity.
- To identify and record any product quality problems.
- To initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
- To verify the implementation of solutions.
- To control further processing, delivery or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

**D) Work Environment**
- Exposure to loud environment, airborne particles with stronger odours associated with spicy food ingredients and cold, hot, wet and humid conditions.
- Walking and standing on concrete for 8 to 12 hours a day, up to 6 days a week. Climbing steps, ladders and working on elevated surfaces.
- Regularly lifting 50 to 100 lbs.
- Busy & stressful during peak season
