This course will be offered in virtual synchronous format. The course will be taught in a synchronous online environment, using Zoom, at the scheduled date and time for the full 36 contact hours of the course.

**Position Summary**:
The course will explore key issues in South Asian politics including colonial legacies, the development of nuclear weapons, democracy, state institutions, the conflict in Kashmir, India’s emergence as a regional hegemon, and role of China in the region. 2024 is the election year in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. The course will examine the electoral processes/results, and the role of militaries through a comparative lens. It will also study issues like secessionist movements in India and Pakistan, ethnic conflict, identity politics, and the rise of the far-right in India & Afghanistan. Issues such as climate change and impact on Bangladesh, trade policy, and migration will be debated.

**Salary**: $9,025.89 (C.A. article 25.2)
