**Labourer - Fleet and Facility Services**

Sturgeon County is looking for two Fleet and Facilities Summer Students to support members of the Department with various labourer related tasks.

These 16-week positions ending August 30, 2024, are partly funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant to create quality summer work experiences for people aged 15 to 30 years. If you have an interest and are eager and quick to learn within a close-knit work environment, we encourage you to apply

**Position 1 - KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

Performing general labour activities for Facility Services as required within a strong team environment that encourages, safety and learning opportunities.

**Support for Facilities Coordinator** (**70**%)**
- Assist with furniture assembly, setup and moving.
- Wall, floor and ceiling painting.
- Assist in minor carpentry work.
- Assist in file box coordination.
- Parts/Supplies pick up deliveries.
- General facility maintenance where applicable.
- Facilities shop cleanup and support.

**Support for Custodian Coordinator** (**2**0**%)**
- Assist with cleaning and janitorial work.

**Other Related Duties** (**10**%)**
- Participate in discussions, communicate with supervisor, and make recommendations where necessary regarding work assignments.
- Complete special projects as required.
- Adhere to the Workers’ Responsibilities and Accountabilities as outlined in the Sturgeon County Health & Safety Management System.

**KNOWLEDGE,** EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, **SKILLS, ABILITIES**, AND EXPERIENCE**
- Class 5 Driver's License with a clean Drivers Abstract
- Defensive Driving Certification
- Work effectively and efficiently with others and alone.
- Punctuality.
- Communicate openly.
- Take direction well.
- Show initiative.
- Having basic facility understanding and organizational experience is an asset.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT **AND** P**HYSICAL** EFFORTS**
- Work is performed on worksites within the county.
- Work may be performed in extreme temperatures or with high levels of noise.
- Occasional lifting and carrying 23 kg or more.
- Bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, crawling.
- Exposure to dust, fumes and equipment.

**Position 2 - KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

Performing general labour activities for Facility Services as required within a strong team environment that encourages, safety and learning opportunities.

**Fleet Shop Support (80%)**
- Parts and supplies pick up/delivery as required.
- Unit shuttling to Vendors.
- Unit detailing.
- Shop cleaning and organizing.
- Stock room cleaning and organizing.
- Assist technicians as required and where applicable.

**Other Duties as Required (20%)**
- Participate in discussions, communicate with supervisor, and make recommendations where necessary regarding work assignments.
- Complete special projects as required.
- Adhere to the Workers’ Responsibilities and Accountabilities as outlined in the Sturgeon County Health & Safety Management System.

**KNOWLEDGE,** EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, **SKILLS, ABILITIES**, AND EXPERIENCE**
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with an acceptable drivers abstract.
- Defensive Driving Certification.
- Work effectively and efficiently with others and alone.
- Punctuality.
- Communication.
- Take direction well.
- Show initiative.
- Physically able to perform the required labour activities.
- Mechanical and organizational experience is an asset.
