Marine/fibreglass Technician

Valet Yacht Services is the operator of the Maple Bay Marina Boatyard near Duncan on Vancouver Island including a 50 Ton Travelift. The company is a full marine service business specializing in bottom painting, detailing, bright work, fiberglass and gelcoat repairs and mechanical work.

**Responsibilities**:

- Effectively repair fiberglass damage, both structural and non-structural using VE and epoxy resin (fill, grind, laminate and fair)
- Color Match Gelcoat & Match Nonskid Patterns
- Flexibility to Perform Other Tasks - Such as Some Mechanical & General Applications (bottom painting, detailing, polishing)
- Assist shipwrights, marine mechanics, and other team members
- Use forklifts, scissor lifts and other boat yard equipment
- Assist with maintaining a clean and safe shop and yard
- Perform regular maintenance on tools and equipment
- Ensure safety and environmental procedures are followed at all times.

**Skills and Experience**
- Required: One to two years of experience with fiberglass and gelcoat work
- Asset: Training or experience in mechanics, metal work, marine fitting, pipefitting, plumbing, hydraulics, woodwork, or construction
- Asset: Any experience in the marine service industry including training or experience with tools and equipment used in marine maintenance
- Asset: Forklift certificate
- Asset: Driver’s license

Other Details
- Full-time, permanent, Monday-Friday position. Afterhours and weekend work will be required to accommodate emergency & specialty boat lifts.
- Available immediately
- $25-$35 per hour depending on experience, with opportunities for training and advancement

**Salary**: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
