Position Summary:
The Program Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation services for clients of Simple Solutions Care Inc. This includes transporting children, youth, and adults to and from appointments, school, daycare, activities, outings, and other designated locations. The Program Driver plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of group homes, reunification homes, and related programs, ensuring that transportation needs are met in alignment with client care and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:1. Transportation Services:
- Provide safe and timely transportation for clients to and from appointments, daycare, school, outings, and other activities as assigned.
- Ensure all transportation is conducted safely, following traffic laws, company policies, and client care guidelines.
- Maintain punctuality in pick-up and drop-off times, ensuring clients arrive at their destinations as scheduled.
- Assist clients in entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
2. Client Care & Safety:
- Prioritize the safety and well-being of clients during transportation.
- Monitor client behavior during trips, ensuring adherence to safety rules and addressing any concerns that arise.
- Secure all passengers with appropriate seat belts or car seats according to provincial laws and safety regulations.
- Be aware of any special needs or accommodations required by clients and ensure they are met during transportation.
- Report any safety concerns, behavioral incidents, or accidents to the Program Coordinator and document the details as required.
3. Vehicle Maintenance & Safety:
- Perform regular safety checks on the vehicle, including tire pressure, oil levels, brakes, lights, and seat belts to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
- Keep the vehicle clean, ensuring a hygienic and pleasant environment for clients.
- Ensure the vehicle is well-fueled and ready for use at all times.
- Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the Operations Manager immediately.
- Maintain a log of vehicle usage, mileage, and any maintenance performed.
4. Documentation & Communication:
- Accurately document all transportation activities, including pick-up and drop-off times, routes taken, and any incidents or delays during the journey.
- Maintain communication with program staff to coordinate transportation schedules, update on delays, or report concerns regarding client transportation.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with clients, families, and staff members.
- Ensure any changes to the transportation schedule are communicated promptly to relevant staff and clients.
5. Adherence to Policies & Procedures:
- Follow all organizational policies related to confidentiality, client care, safety, and behavior management.
- Adhere to Simple Solutions Care Inc.'s guidelines for transporting children, ensuring proper supervision and care during transit.
- Follow safety protocols in emergencies, including contacting the appropriate authorities or staff.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and all required certifications for transporting clients (including training for child safety seats if applicable).
6. Support Program Activities:
- Assist staff in supervising clients during group outings, ensuring their safety in transit and at event locations.
- Help coordinate transportation logistics for large group activities or field trips.
- Support clients in a positive and respectful manner, demonstrating patience and understanding during trips.
Qualifications:
**Education**:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- First aid and CPR certification (preferred).
**Experience**:
- Minimum 1-2 years of driving experience, preferably in a role providing transportation for vulnerable populations (children, youth, or individuals with special needs).
- Previous experience in social services, child care, or related fields (preferred).
**Licenses**:
- Valid Class 4 driver's license (or Class 5 with the ability to upgrade based on provincial requirements).
- Clean driving record and ability to pass a background check.
**Skills & Abilities**:
- Strong understanding of road safety and traffic regulations.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations (e.g., traffic, client outbursts).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and a caring, responsible attitude when interacting with clients.
- Ability to follow directions and complete tasks independently.
- High level of responsibility, punctuality, and reliability.
Working Conditions:
