Capella Centre is a non-profit agency dedicated to providing comprehensive support and resources to women and their families who have experienced domestic violence and/or abuse. Our programs and services are aimed at helping women move forward from their experiences of violence and abuse, so that they can carry on with their lives in a healthy and constructive manner. Our mission is to empower individuals and families to break the cycle of domestic violence through safety, knowledge, and respect. Our vision is Healthy Relationships, Healthy Communities. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Domestic Violence Community Support Worker to join our team. As a community support worker, you will play a crucial role in providing direct assistance and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and/or abuse who do not require the residential services of the shelter. You will also provide support to all programs and services offered in the community by Capella Centre including our Family Violence Treatment Program. This position will:

- Provide support, deliver trauma-informed services, referrals, and advocacy to women who do not require the residential services of the shelter.
- Networks, consults, and liaises with community agencies and professionals to maintain current information on available resources, referral processes and to maintain positive community relations and build mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Raise awareness about the complex issues of domestic violence and the services and programs delivered by Capella Centre.
- Provide support to all community programs delivered by Capella Centre.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate various psycho-educational groups offered in the community.

- Maintain accurate records and documentation of services provided, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, agency events, and continuous learning opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills. Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field with two-years relevant experience. A combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge related to the delivery of services and advocacy for women and their families impacted by domestic violence may be considered..
- Excellent understanding of violence against women’s issues both within dominant and non-dominant cultures.
- Strong listening skills, written and oral communication skills including public speaking skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate information to others (e.g. case notes, reports and statistics)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment demonstrating empathy, cultural humility, and respect for confidentiality.
- Proficiency in computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
- Standard First-Aid and CPR
- Children’s Services Intervention Check & Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
