In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the unit is running smoothly, information is delivered in a timely, sensitive manner and that confidentiality and privacy standards are maintained at all times.

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

- Medical Office/Health Care Office Administration Certificate from an accredited post-secondary educational institution
- Minimum of one (1) year of Unit Clerk experience within the last three (3) years (in a Critical Care setting is preferred)
- Knowledge of the Critical Care Information System and recording data entry
- Knowledge of the Muse ECG Editor system
- Demonstrated effective communication skills including but not limited to: professional conversations, telephone etiquette, compassionate listening and utilizing critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent performance record in alignment with STEGH’s Mission, Vision and Values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

WHAT WE PREFER YOU TO HAVE:

- Six (6) months of recent experience as a Unit Clerk in a hospital setting (Critical Care setting would be an additional asset)
- Crisis Intervention Training

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
The ICU Unit Clerk is often the first point of contact for our patient’s families as they call in for information or personally visit their loved ones. The ICU Unit Clerk provides reception, Critical Care reporting, supporting the patient and family centered care model, as well as demonstrating the hospitals Mission, Vision and Core Values on a daily basis. The ICU Unit Clerk must demonstrate excellent communication skills and maintain confidentiality of patient and staff information.

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a 14-bed unit, we provide services that range from post-surgical care for adults, to medical supportive care for critically ill patients admitted from the Emergency Department, In-Patient Units or transferred to us from our regional partners.
