**About the job**

Tallysman Wireless, ® a subsidiary of Calian Group Ltd., is an Ottawa based producer of products and components for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). These include RF and high-performance antennas and intelligent location-based wireless infrastructure solutions for tracking systems.

Tallysman is looking for an experienced Intermediate Buyer in Ottawa to support manufacturing, evaluate suppliers, prepare/manage proposals and conduct negotiations.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Sourcing of electronic and peripheral components to support manufacturing.
- Participate in the evaluation and selection of suppliers (main and second sourcing initiatives).
- Prepare and manage RFP/RFQ proposals, purchase agreements, and statements of work.
- Negotiation with supply base to ensure the best possible value and adherence to purchase price standards.
- Manage MRP information and place orders, reschedule, and expedite accordingly, ensuring maximum cost/quantity/delivery optimization.
- Maintain data integrity of system within area of responsibility, including purchase parameters and revisions.
- Develop strong product knowledge to better facilitate day-to-day procurement needs with internal and external stakeholders.
- Administer open orders and appropriately liaise between end users and suppliers to negotiate and satisfactorily resolve any changes initiated by either party.
- Ensure target inventory levels are reached within area of responsibility.
- Develop improved processes while working within the company's operating procedures.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction wherever feasible and as good practice.
- Coordinate with Supplier to manage and monitor product returns / replacements.
- Take a lead role in driving process improvement and management of obsolescence issues.
- Liaise with Buyers, Customer Service, and Accounting/Finance personnel.
- Participate in ongoing projects as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Skills & Qualifications**
- A university degree or 3 year college program graduate from a related program.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive purchasing experience within the electronics assembly industry.
- ERP System experience within a manufacturing environment is required, with specific competency in purchasing and planning functionality.
- Capability to manage projects and reporting in a self-driven manner by utilizing a data-driven, analytical, detail-oriented approach.
- Need to be organized, meticulous and reliable even in stressful and deadline driven situations.
- Ability to multitask and expedite many Purchase Orders simultaneously.
- A team player who demonstrates flexibility, determination, energy, enthusiasm, and the willingness to support and assist other members of the department to manage volume.
- Knowledge of Incoterms and shipping documentation (e.g. bill of lading, commercial invoice, packing list, air waybill, etc.)
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, knowledge of SAP an asset.
- Analytical, problem-solving abilities and creative thinking.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills.
- Electronics Manufacturing purchasing experience is an asset.
- Electronics Manufacturing knowledge of electronics circuit card assembly industry, AS9100/ISO-9001 is a plus.
- Familiarity/experience with lean manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement techniques (e.g., RCCA, Six Sigma methodology).
- CSCP Certified Supply Chain Professional or other related Certification is required.
