The Manager of Business Continuity and Emergency Preparedness is responsible for leading emergency management, preparedness and business continuity initiatives, including the identification of hazard and vulnerabilities, business impact analysis, identify areas for improvement, analyzing trends in codes, training, exercises and education initiatives geared to all personnel. The position lies within the Public Safety and Business Continuity portfolio and part of the Legal and Enterprise Risk Management team whose clients include all of Osler’s programs and business operations.
- Management of the Emergency Preparedness Codes (policies) including; Overseeing/revising of emergency codes, facilitating training and roll-out for changes to codes as well as Chairing the Emergency Preparedness Committee and conducting the duties as defined in the terms of reference
- Leading Emergency Preparedness activities such as participation in code reviews, education and mock codes
- Conducting hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA), supporting departments to create business impact analyses and enhancing Osler’s resiliency
- Maintaining operational readiness for emergency response (e.g. C.B.R.N. preparedness)
- Maintaining the pandemic plan for Osler
- Implementation, framework and training of corporate emergency management strategy and IMS/HICS approach
- Ensuring capacity, readiness and inventory of corporate emergency command centres as well as conducting mock codes and tracers
- Ensuring effective communication, dissemination of information to stakeholders and determine opportunities and facilitating presentations on both Emergency Preparedness and Incident Reporting
- Being a shoulder resource in response to emergencies and leading reviews of individual events
- Facilitating response to emergencies and leading reviews of individual events
- Attend necessary meetings, task forces and working groups related to role both internally and externally

**Qualifications**
- 2 years of experience in Emergency Management/Business Continuity
- Experience and knowledge of emergency preparedness activities including policy writing, exercise development and implementation
- Healthcare and management experience is an asset
- Understanding the relationship and importance of Emergency Management, Public Safety and Risk Management in a healthcare setting
- Having excellent analytical, interpretive and computer skills
- Must be able to handle high stress situations and plan through to the recovery process
- Demonstrate an ability to work independently while being supported by a multidisciplinary team
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with relationship-building and negotiation skills
- Leadership is required to develop and manage college level internship(s) in Emergency Management
- Working with Sheridan College to establish co-op placement(s) as well as direct and indirect reports
- Indirect leadership for providing guidance and training to all members of Osler from the front line staff to the CEO and SLT
