Support Services Supervisor, Family Connections

**PURPOSE OF THE POSITION**:
Through culturally intelligent practices, this position reports to the Senior Manager of Support & Clinical Services. The Support Services Supervisor, Family Connections is responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the Family Finding, Reintegration and programs that program family connections.
The Family Finder’s role is to search for family/kin, kith and community connections to support the over wellbeing of the children, youth and families in Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child & Family Services supports. Family Finders use a variety of search methods including public records, ancestry.ca, social media, as well as engaging with family to further explore their kin/kith connections, genealogy and Indigenous Heritage.
The Reintegration Worker’s role is to facilitate plans for the reintegration of children and youth back to their families, home and communities. The worker will walk alongside the service team, Family Finders (if applicable) and the child/youth to ensure a culturally wholistic transition plan is created and ongoing support is provided.
The incumbent will ensure that programs and services are provided in accordance with the Child and Family Services Act and other pertinent federal and provincial legislation, Ministry standards and guidelines and Agency policies, directives, and procedures, as well as the Regional Protocols.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Service**:
- Applies a culturally focused lens while ensuring the provision of equitable, respectful, and culturally relevant support service to Indigenous children and youth, consistent with the vision, mission, and values of the Agency.
- Collaborates with relevant communities to explore options and alternative strategies to address complex issues affecting Indigenous children and families.
- Ensures compliance with processes and standards governed by legislation and regulation.
**Planning, Development, and Implementation**:
- Participates as a member of the management team of the Agency in the ongoing evaluation and review of relevant services to Indigenous children and families.
- Works with the Senior Manager - Support & Clinical Services to identify policy gaps in relation to current and developing service practices.
- The Support Services Supervisor of Family Connections will lead development of progressive policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards as they relate to the delivery of child and family services, for review and approval of the management team.
- Analyzes service issues and contributes to facilitating positive change by advocating for and supporting the necessary systemic changes.
- Ability to financially manage a budget as it relates to the program and services within the Family Connections area of service.
- Collects and analyzes service data and submits reports to the Senior Manager - Support & Clinical Services and the Director of Support Services & Administration, on a regular basis.

**Human Resources Management**:
- Provides leadership, direction, guidance, support, and ongoing supervision to the team of Family Finders &
- Reintegration Workers and any new program staff. and ensures understanding and alignment with mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag.
- Provides day-to-day coaching and feedback to the team on their performance and identifies developmental needs and formulates strategies to address gaps in performance.
- Provides professional direction to staff on an ongoing basis and on difficult cases as required including problem solving in crisis situations and strategizing interventions.
- Reviews progress and consults with staff on a regular basis to ensure clients are accurately assessed and to monitor the effectiveness of services provided and Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child & Family Services practices and procedures.
**Community Relations**:
- Participates in opportunities with other agencies where appropriate and establishes and maintains effective working relationships.
- Communicates and explains Agency and Ministry policy to Indigenous communities via regular contact and ongoing dialogue with community members and staff as requested.

**POSITION REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education and Experience Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from a University of recognized standing combined with a minimum of five years’ experience in social work within the field of Indigenous Child well-being and/or child welfare; or
- BSW equivalency: A combination of post-secondary education and training in social work, coupled with employment and life experience that is directly related to this position.
- 2 years of demonstrated strong and effective leadership skills developed through supervisory experience,.
- At least two (2) years’ experience working with culturally appropriate service models for Indigenous people.
