Position: Community-based Victim Services Worker

Reporting Relationship: Reports to WAVAW Supervisor

Hours: This is a 30-hour benefitted position after passing a three-month probationary period

Remuneration**:$26.00

Location: 246 Evans Street, Duncan, BC

Start Date: ASAP

Description**:The CWAVS Community Based Victim Assistance Worker provides assistance to adult survivors of Intimate Partner Violence, Family violence, and sexual violence. Services provided include emotional support, information and referrals, safety planning, assistance navigating the justice system, collaborating with other service providers and systems to effectively meet clients’ needs, promoting violence prevention and safety initiatives and community education.**

Qualifications:

- Post-secondary degree in social sciences plus two years of relevant experience delivering services to survivors of violence or related field or the equivalent in education and experience.
- Knowledge and experience in working with survivors of power-based violence, sexual assault, childhood abuse, stalking and criminal harassment.
- Experience in providing phone and in-person crisis support to survivors of violence.
- Knowledge and training in trauma informed practice.
- Experience facilitating groups, especially groups for survivors of violence.
- Knowledge of the criminal and family court process for survivor issues.
- Experience in systems advocacy and accompaniment.
- Familiarity with local resources and services.
- Strong feminist analysis of violence against women and direct experience working with survivors using a feminist approach.
- Satisfactory criminal records check.
