Terra Vie Landscaping is a fast-growing & Red Seal Certified business looking for a landscape assistant to join the team starting April 6, 2023. We are seeking an individual with knowledge of landscape & horticultural working environments including lawn & garden maintenance. Knowledge of landscape installation is an asset. Details of the position as follows:

- Term of employment: full time, seasonal
- Salary: $20-$22/hour (depending on experience with lots room to grow)

- Hours: 40 hours/week, 8 hours a day, Monday - Friday
- Location of work: various locations around the Comox Valley (Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland, Royston)

This position will be responsible for the following duties:

- Assist with **maintenance and/or installation of landscaped environments** including: lawns, gardens, pruning, hedging, and upkeep other landscape structures such as patios/walkways/etc.
- Safely **operate various tools and equipment** including: lawnmower, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, blower, shovels, rakes, pruners, ladders, wheelbarrows, etc.
- **Perform other manual duties** such as lifting, maintaining tools & equipment
- Assist with **installation or removal **of plants, mulch, soil, woodchips, gravel, rocks
- Moving and **transporting materials **using shovels, wheelbarrows, carts, dollies, etc
- Assist with **preparation or completion of jobsite** projects/installations
- Read and **interpret specifications & drawings** to complete work activities
- Perform **preventative maintenance on tools and equipment** by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis

Safety & Company Duties:

- Assist with managing **safety, quality and productivity** of work at sites
- **Wear appropriate** **(PPE) **personal protection equipment at all times
- **Comply with all company policies**, procedures and regulations
- Maintain and enforce standards of **cleanliness and organization **in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, & jobsites
- Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a **safe and efficient** manner, and that all crew members are in compliance with local, provincial and WCB guidelines
- Assist with ongoing Employee **training**:

- **Communicate with customers in a polite, professional and courteous manner**
- Experience in the landscape maintenance industry (preferred)
- Competent in the use of tools in a safe and responsible manner
- Ability to read and interpret instructions & specifications
- Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work outside & in any weather condition
- Time management skills
- Knowledge of materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete tasks
- Physically fit with strong stamina
- Ability to follow safe working procedures
- Observation skills with attention to detail
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Carry and use a smart phone or data-enabled device for communication and reporting
- Valid driver’s license & abstract an asset

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 9 months

**Salary**: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
