Closing the Gap Healthcare (CTG) is dedicated to providing Canadians with the highest level of care across a wide range of home-based and community-setting services.

As a Personal Support Worker (PSW) Educator, you will be responsible for facilitating the training and education of aspiring HSW and PSWs. Your role will involve designing and delivering comprehensive educational programs that equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care and support to individuals in home and community healthcare settings. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of these healthcare professionals, ensuring they meet professional standards and contribute positively to the healthcare sector.

What you will be doing:

- Program Development: Design, develop, and update curriculum materials for HSW and PSW training programs in accordance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
- Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging and interactive classroom instruction, hands-on training, and practical demonstrations to students, covering topics such as patient care, hygiene, mobility assistance, nutrition, medication administration, and communication skills.
- Assessment & Evaluation: Develop and administer assessments, quizzes, and practical examinations to evaluate student progress and proficiency in key competencies. Provide constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and industry stakeholders to enhance program quality, effectiveness, and relevance to industry needs.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and achievements. Generate reports and documentation as required by regulatory bodies and accrediting agencies.
- Student Advocacy: Advocate for the needs and interests of students, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters their personal and professional growth.

Skills needed for success:

- Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is in good standing.
- Prior experience in adult learning and education, including instructional design, curriculum development, and teaching in a post-secondary or vocational education setting
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and adult learners with varying educational backgrounds and experiences.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
