Position Information

**Position Title**
- Art Studio Technician**Position Summary**
- The Art Studio Technician supports the technical aspects of the Visual Arts program. The focus of this position is on assisting students and faculty, studio safety, inventory control, and studio and equipment maintenance.**Position Responsibilities**

**Instructional Support**
- Assists students one-on-one during scheduled class times as well as outside of regular class times
- Answers technical questions from students and/or faculty
- Ensures safe use of materials and equipment for all participants
- Assists faculty with technical aspects of project delivery and process demonstration

**Studio Maintenance/Safe Use**
- Ensures studio is maintained in terms of cleanliness, usability, and safety
- Performs minor renovations and fabrication (tables, benches, shelving) as required
- Assists Visual Art Technician with more involved fabrications
- Coordinates with Campus Management for minor plant related repairs

**Equipment and Materials Maintenance/Inventory**
- Ensures constant inventory of small hand tools
- Monitors and ensures safe use of materials and notify the Visual Arts Technician when materials are running low
- Assists Visual Art Technician to perform regular maintenance on all studio equipment
- Performs emergency maintenance on equipment as required
- Replaces or repairs damaged equipment, as necessary

**Required Qualifications**
- Completion of a 1-year post-secondary certificate or one year of university study or equivalent**Preferred Qualifications**
- Completion of 2-year diploma in a relevant program: Visual Art, Welding, Foundry, Carpentry**Salary or Hourly?**
