Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Purchaser will assume responsibility for all procurement related duties.

This position will be based out Edmonton.

What You Will Be Working On
- Work with the project team to plan and schedule materials and services
- Submit requisitions as required
- Ensure all material conforms to Project Quality Plan, Client Specification, and jurisdictional requirements
- Source materials upon the receipt of an approved requisition
- When sourcing quotes, use the RFQ templates and attach all relevant specifications.
- Source materials through preferred vendors when possible
- Source materials through Indigenous supply partners where possible.
- Obtain quotes from multiple vendors (3 or more) when not sourcing through preferred vendors.
- Create a purchase order, material contracts, or subcontracts in an approved Bird system, using a detailed scope of work
- Provide specifications or detailed requirements along with the selected contact to the Vendor to ensure the materials meet or exceed the project specifications.
- Ensure all items on the Bill of Materials are ordered and scheduled to arrive on-time
- Request Material Data Sheets, Material Test Reports (MTR), and material storage requirements as required when placing the order with the vendor.
- Keep a log of all orders and expedite to the project schedule.
- Report any risks on delivery to the Project Manager
- Schedule and lead regular meetings with the vendor as required to mitigate the risk of late deliveries.
- Report any serious delays to the Supply Chain Manager to assist with mitigation strategies.
- When discrepancies are reported from receiving, including overages, shortages, or damages (OS&D), take pictures and send reports to the vendor for resolution
- Resolve invoicing issues with the vendors.
- Provide inventory reports bi-weekly to project management
- Manage surplus inventory
- Enter receiving into an approved Bird system when you receive the signed packing slips from the Material Receiver.
- Close-out open commitments (POs) at the end of the project.
- Support and track change order pricing.
- Coordinate shop drawing approvals.
- Assist in the SAP function overflow including purchase orders, goods movements and framework purchase orders.
- File electronic and hard copy documents and track registers

What We Are Looking For
- Undergraduate degree
- Completion of SCMP or other equivalent courses and certificates considered an asset
- A minimum of 2-3 years experience in a construction purchasing environment
- Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and a strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude
