New employees must provide documentation/proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status, a 2-step TB screening, as well as proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox) prior to their start date at St. Mary’s General Hospital. Staff will require clearance from Employee Health and Wellness before they are able to begin any position within SMGH.

**Position Summary**:
The Registered Practical Nurse performs and serves in a professional and collaborative environment, where the OR Nursing team is interactive, supportive and committed to excellence and quality patient care. The RPN will be required to participate in an on-call schedule including weekdays, weekends and stat holidays.

**Position Requirements**:

- Graduate of a Practical Nursing Program and currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Successful completion of a recognized O.R. Certificate course from an approved teaching institution.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate (BCLS).
- Demonstrated competent nursing skills including recent experience in a variety of surgical specialties.
- Basic computer knowledge
- Proven ability to function as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Established Collaboration and communication skills with patients and health professionals
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and safety requirements of the position
- Ability to attend work regularly; demonstrated by an acceptable attendance record
