**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Manager, Construction Compliance & Permits Office, this position monitors contractors’ day to day activities to ensure compliance by conducting site audits and reviews to identify potential issues or violations and work with the Contractors, the Project Consultants and CCPO’s Consultants to ensure issues are addressed efficiently and effectively.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Assist with the overall Facility Alteration Permit (FAP) Process and respond to general inquiries pertaining to the FAP process requirements
- Respond to requests for site reviews to ensure compliance with approved documentation and/or applicable GTAA Guidelines
- Verify and document work compliance to the submitted documentation; to the Airport Construction Code; and to any other applicable codes, standards, and airport practices
- Maintain written inspection reports of work progress, detailing any safety or non-compliance issues or property damaged
- Discuss issues found with the contractor and Project Manager to and ensure a plan is established to rectify the issues
- Issue written notices (Order to Comply or Stop Work Order) when necessary to contractors to deal with matters of work non-compliance and/or safety concerns
- Participate in final inspections and demonstrations initiated by contractors and consultants
- Track and review all submitted final documentation required for final Occupancy/Use Permit
- Review and verify the accuracy of the record drawings submitted

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary technical training/education in a field related to the design and construction of buildings/facilities & base building systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience applied in technical work related to the construction of buildings/structures and/or the installation of building components and systems (architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, life safety, etc.)
- Minimum 5 years’ technically focused work experience in a facilities-based environment focusing on the design, construction/installation, commissioning and/or maintenance of new facilities and facilities systems
- Previous work within an airport environment, and understanding of hot work & surface penetration risks assessment will be considered an asset
- Able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- General knowledge of building construction principles and practices, and project management procedures
- Understanding of construction-related activities and processes and familiarity with facility elements and base building operating systems
- Inspection skills involving critical observation, trouble shooting, attention to detail, accuracy of appearance, exercising authority, etc.
- General knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Projects and the roles and responsibilities of Owners, Contractors, Supervisors, and workers with regards to construction safety
- Ability to recognize unusual site conditions or circumstance, assess and make sound judgments to ensure that unsafe work activities are immediately stopped
- Ability to communicate any concerns found clearly with the Project Manager for their follow-up with the Contractor
- Demonstrated capacity for problem solving, conflict resolution and innovative thinking
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work in coordination with and maintain productive working relationships with partners
- Excellent time-management and computer skills
- Ability to respond to challenging situations with tact and subtlety
- Ability to support all partners in their respective duties and undertakings during the FAP process
- Professional mannerism and conduct, positive work attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
