**The Opportunity**
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Youth Mental Health Promotion Coordinator (YMHPC) is tasked with inspiring and promoting a culture of mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being and resilience in their work with students, school educators, school administration, community partners, government, and funding providers.

**The Position**
The YMHPC will demonstrate dynamic leadership in collaboration with education, health, and social services, serving diverse urban, Indigenous, and rural communities of Manitoba focused on the coordination and implementation of Speak Up. This position falls within the Collective Agreement Band 5
Salary Scale of between $45,869.88 to $55,799.34.

**Youth Mental Health Promotion Initiatives**
The Youth Mental Health Promotion Coordinator position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Speak Up plan and supports program enrolment, communication, orientation, distribution of supplies and program enhancement, to allow for a seamless transition to a growing number of Speak Up participants.

**Responsibilities**
- Implement our youth mental health program and service strategy based on evidence-based research and best practices across the continuum of well-being.
- Design, deliver and evaluate Speak Up Train the Trainer training and Speakers’ Bureau training and orientation sessions for educators, clinical staff, and post-secondary students with lived experience (Speakers' Bureau)
- Responsible for co-developing educational workshops, tool kits, and training of all youth CMHA programs, services, and initiatives.
- Establish a community of learning that provides ongoing peer to peer coaching, encouragement, that promotes connection and innovation for all Speak Up facilitators.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues, management, community partners, school educators, school administration and youth communities in a multi-disciplinary approach to mental health and well-being for youth.
- Support and deliver programs that have a strong setting-based approach in schools as well as a whole school approach to mental health promotion, education, and training.
- Participate in evaluating the effectiveness of programs and services and track trends in youth mental health and behaviours; and offering recommendations of potential new initiatives from information collected.
- Co-create and deliver programs and initiatives for mental health education as well as target specific programming initiatives to support the specific challenges of diverse and vulnerable youth populations.
- Support and deliver the Talk Today program in collaboration with CMHA Manitoba branches to MJHL and WHL teams.
- Promote awareness of mental health issues in schools and communities to reduce stigma regarding mental health concerns and illness. This will include the steps needed to train front line workers, teachers, and caregivers through programs, course work or workshops.
- Support and engage in the use of a virtual classroom to deliver greater access of youth mental health promotion, education, and training.
- Use innovation to increase engagement with youth, stakeholders, and communities. Utilize all social media platforms and technology to convey strategic youth mental health messages, for promotion, awareness and increase mental health literacy.

- Participate in team meetings and committee work that aligns with the program and agency strategic plan.
- Contribute to agency-wide initiatives to advance the mission and ends of the organization.

**Qualifications**
- This position requires a two-year completed post-secondary education at the undergraduate level in human services related disciplines such as Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or Education and two years of experience in a youth focused community-based organization.
- Demonstrated competence in cultural safety and works effectively with individuals from various backgrounds.
- Experience with community engagement, networking, and outreach.
- Knowledge and experience in the principles and practise of health, mental health, mental health promotion and harm reduction.
