Tool Maker Apprentice

We are a fast-growing plastic processing plant looking for Tool Marker Apprentices to join our team. This position requires an individual with the capabilities under the guidance of a qualified tool & die maker to assist with and or carry out the repair, maintenance, and construction of tools/fixtures/gauges/dies. The apprentice is responsible for adhering to all legislated regulations and training requirements outlined in their signed contract.
**The Shift: Day Shift **(Monday to Friday, 7:00 am-4 pm)
**Responsibilities**:
- Maintain and encourage a safe work environment and good housekeeping.
- Actively participate in day-to-day activities within the department as assigned.
- Work closely with the other licensed/certified Associates to learn from their experiences and knowledge.
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations to prevent injury to yourself, others, and property damage.
- Be willing to take constructive criticism to enhance your abilities.
- Ensure compliance with the Apprenticeship Training Standards (i.e. education, reports etc.).
- Become familiar with tools and equipment set-up and safe operation. Become familiar with measuring equipment (i.e. Vernier’s, callipers, gauges, etc.).
- Work as a Team Member in all situations.
- Learn how to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications of tools, dies, prototypes or models.
- Learn how to prepare templates and sketches and determine work processes.
- Learn how to compute dimensions and tolerances and set up machine tools.
**Requirements**:
- Familiar with the basics of the trade, equipment and processes
- two years of Toolroom Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to lift to 75 lbs
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Able to work in a team and handle priorities under pressure
- Strong understanding and consciousness of safe work practices
- Available to attend schooling and attain Journeymen certification within a specified period
- Strong communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure
