**SUMMARY**

Working under the direct supervision of our CTO, the Lab Technician will administer, examine and monitor sample testing. Using Informatics, the Lab Technician will assist in providing samples for our customers and continuously find ways to improve our biodegradable product while maintaining protocol and standard operating procedures. To provide analysis, the Lab Technician will gather historical and experimental data, perform diagnostic testing, and evaluate the samples. Preparation of the samples for clients, shipment of samples, maintenance of the lab and ensuring an inventory of materials required to perform the testing are also needed. The Lab Technician will record results and prepare oral and written reports to provide a comprehensive workflow for our clients.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Analyzing materials (raw or manufactured; competitive samples; product development etc) to gather historical and experimental data; Prepare, examine and monitor samples for analysis;
- Provide data management, using hard copy and electronic means, following all rules of proprietary information;
- Assist in the development and/or improvement of methods and procedures;
- Produce samples for internal use and/or customer sampling via lab and pilot plant operations;
- Maintain proper housekeeping in all work areas;
- Maintain an inventory of materials in both on-site and off-site storage facilities;
- Ship or store experimental materials produced on extruders or other lab equipment;
- Ensure tests and procedures are being conducted using proper techniques and processes;
- Use and maintain the lab information management system for the management of samples, instruments, standards and other lab functions, which include invoicing, system management and workflow automation.

**ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Use of computers, guidelines, formal terminology, instruments and communications systems to perform research and reports;
- Adherence to all Health & Safety, Fire Emergency, and PSI Policies and Procedures;
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**
- Must be a highly motivated, team-oriented individual who holds either a BS degree in chemistry, engineering or another related science OR has a minimum of four (4) years experience in laboratory analysis, research and materials processing
- Must be able to understand and interpret process indications and take the appropriate corrective action
- Must have demonstrated analytical/mechanical mindset skills, including calibration and maintenance of equipment, recognize and diagnosing problems, and making changes or repairs as required (to the extent where specialists are necessary)
- Must have technical knowledge and skills pertinent to a research environment in the construction and operation of experimental units (e.g. lab scale extruders, semi-works, small-scale reactors, calibrators, etc.)
- Preferred knowledge of manufacturing or production processes and procedures;
- Must be able to handle heavy weights, operate lab scales, blend samples, and knowledge of extrusion (blown film), a vital asset;
- Well organized, with solid attention to detail and accuracy are required. Sound oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to problem solve, are requirements.

Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
