Brampton, Canada St. Leonard's Place Peel Full time

St. Leonard’s Place Peel (SLPP) is a non-profit charitable organization that provides transitional and reintegration housing for men dealing with situations of homelessness, mental illness, addiction and/or conflict with the law.

St. Leonard’s Place Peel is opening our In from The Heat program from June 10, 2024 until August 30, 2024.

Key responsibilities include:
**Client Care**
- Engage and interact with clients and document client engagement and client interactions according to SLPP’s documentation standards
- Build rapport with clients by showing interest in their daily lives. while maintaining professional boundaries
- Provide meal support and access to a cold drink and a healthy meal in accordance with Canada’s Food Guide
- Provide support with laundry services

**Quality Assurance / Health and Safety**
- Staff onsite will assist guests with laundry and provide clean towels and hygiene products for the shower
- Clothing donations will be made available for the men to use
- Staff will conduct daily sanitization of facilities to ensure the health and safety of guests
- The program will have designated eating and designated smoking areas
- The men will be able to call and book a laundry time or just show up and use laundry facilities if they are available
- An external cleaning service will on site 1-2 hours per day
- Personal protective equipment will be provided to all clients and staff Responsibilities
- Input client information into the database
- Complete shift log after every shift
- Provide daily updates
- Provide food and snacks to the clients
- Assist with referrals and linkages as needed
- Provide on site support
- Assist with laundry when needed
- All other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- Must have experience working with men that are homeless and may have substance use and mental health issues - Minimum 1-year experience in social services
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skill
- A demonstrated experience dealing with the offender population and individuals with serious mental illness
- A demonstrated ability to understand the dynamics of offender behaviour and assess their needs and risks
- An ability to understand the use of authority in supervision and to intervene effectively in crisis situations
- Able to understand diversity and cultural differences
- Familiarity with the dynamics of offender behaviour and sensitivity to their needs
- Valid Driver’s Licence with a clean driver’s abstract
- Current CPR/First Aid certificate
- Current medical assessment and clearance to work in a residential setting
- Clear Police check and approved Corrections Canada Enhanced Reliability clearance
- Skills in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing SLPP supports succession planning, however it would be challenging to backfill Full-Time and Part-Time positions, while ensuring Safe Staffing Levels.

**AVAILABLE SHIFTS**:
Full-time Contract (40 hours per week) : Sunday through Thursday (10am - 6pm)

Full-time Contract (40 hours per week): Tuesday through Saturday (10-6pm)

Part-Time Contract (16 hours per week): Sunday and Monday (10-6pm)

Part-Time Contract (16 hours per week): Friday and Saturday (10am - 6pm)

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 2 months

Pay: $23.31-$23.87 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
