UNIT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The DeGroote School of Business (DSB) is a comprehensive, research intensive, business school offering undergraduate, graduate and executive development programs across two campuses in Hamilton and Burlington. DSB’s mission is to foster interdisciplinary thinking and evidence-based management to transform business and society.

The Faculty provides outstanding educational programs to over 4000 students across B. Comm, MBA, executive MBA, Masters and PhD programs. Annually, over 1300 students enroll in DeGroote’s Executive Education development programs and the Directors College. Over 1200 participants register annually for external outreach events.

Consistent with its mission, The DeGroote School of Business has joint programs and partnerships with the Faculties of Health Sciences, Engineering and Humanities and intends to continue to expand interdisciplinary programs as part of the University’s Strategic Mandate Agreement and the School’s strategic plan.

DSB is also the administrative home of several of the interdisciplinary programs and enterprises including the Health Leadership Academy, MSc in eHealth, Bachelor of Commerce in Integrated Business and Humanities and the Directors College.

Reporting to the Manager, Operations & Support within the DeGroote School of Business, this role would contribute to an effective teaching and learning environment by ensuring seamless audiovisual experiences for faculty members, instructors, staff, and external clients.

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the architecture, installation, configuration, maintenance, and management of audiovisual solutions in classrooms, labs, boardrooms, and seminar rooms. Maintain audiovisual systems including testing, preventative maintenance, and repairs. Provides technical support on the use of audiovisual technologies to faculty members, instructors, staff, and external clients, including delivering training and developing/maintaining documentation.

PURPOSE AND KEY FUNCTIONS:

- Develop concepts and designs for audiovisual equipment and installation to meet room requirements.
- Analyze project requirements and desired outcomes to recommend solutions for various initiatives.
- Develop room solutions that meet the teaching and learning and operational requirements, are cost effective, and are future ready.
- Create and work with project and equipment specifications and schematics.
- Source pricing information and make recommendations. Purchase audiovisual equipment and related services within the defined budget.
- Negotiate AV services and project implementation contracts with multiple vendors. May require creation and evaluation of RFP responses.
- Manage vendor relationships for audiovisual equipment and service contract providers.
- Project manage, coordinate, and oversee AV solution implementation and upgrade projects. Ensures projects are completed on time and on budget while performing and scheduling work around classroom and resource availabilities. Ensures audiovisual solutions meet the requirements and QA standards specified for the project.
- Develop testing methodologies for the solution and ensure that the solution meets project QA standards and deliverables.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new products and upgrades.
- Test, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, install, and upgrade various audio-visual and multi-media equipment including; web conferencing systems, recording equipment, streaming, captioning and wireless presentation equipment.
- Conduct regular QA equipment testing to ensure proper functionality and optimal performance of audiovisual equipment.
- Create and maintain documentation including; schematics, configurations, usage policies and procedures, reference materials and training guides.
- Create and deliver training sessions and presentations on the use of room audiovisual equipment including classrooms, conference rooms, labs, and recording studios.
- Provide advice and guidance to faculty, instructors, staff and students regarding the various technology and functionality available (including online/hybrid learning technologies, lecture recording, captioning and transcribing).
- Build and maintain an inventory for all audiovisual equipment. Update inventory based on installation, configuration, changes/upgrades, removal, warranty details, and vendor.
