**The Opportunity**:
Banff Centre is looking for an experienced Maintenance Leadhand to join our Physical Facilities team. This position will lead the team in the ongoing maintenance of refrigeration and heating-based equipment on campus.
**Specific Accountabilities**:
Below are some of the key accountabilities:
- Works on heating systems and equipment, as well as the design, implementation, and follow up on all heating related preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all buildings on Campus including but not limited to, hydronic reset schedules, operating pressures and temperatures, affective water treatment, air turnovers and minimum ventilation requirements set out by ASHREA.
- Responsible for monitoring of all work completed by staff and contractors to ensure Banff Centre health and safety protocols are adhered to and to ensure all work performed is in accordance with local, provincial and federal codes.
- Coordinate the inspection and reporting of all requirements under the Federal Halocarbon Regulations.
- Works closely with the Boiler and Heating Technician and the Refrigeration Mechanic for the detailed planning, execution and follow up of campus wide mechanical preventive maintenance programs and predictive maintenance programs for necessary upgrades and replacement of major mechanical equipment including but not limited to boilers, pumps, motors, air handlers, associated control systems and components.
- Using written and oral instructions, as well as teaching by example, the Leadhand seeks to develop, in the maintenance staff, proper and safe work habits.
- This position is required to be competent in all of aspects of a maintenance environment.
**Qualification and Educational Requirements**:
- One or more journeyman trade certificates in either refrigeration, plumbing, electrical and or a 4th class power engineer designation
- Alberta Type A or B Gas Fitter certification
- 5+ years of work experience on all different types of manufactured boilers
- A complete understanding of boiler and gas codes, rules and regulations
- The ability to perform all job functions related to boiler repair.
- Valid Alberta’s drivers’ license
**Special Requirements**:
- Due to the unpredictable nature of repair needs, this position may have to work weekends, nights, holidays or extended hours and may be required to be on standby.
**Employment Terms & Benefits**:
- The salary for this position is $84,279 annually, working 37.5 hours per week.
