Deck Supervisor

**PART TIME SUPERVISOR**

**Hourly Position**

Making Waves Swim School has been producing confident swimmers and providing award-winning water safety programs for children and adults since 1994. Between our four locations in Brampton, Milton, Mississauga and Vaughan, Making Waves teaches over 7000 children a week.

**ROLE**

Supervisors are responsible for the quality and delivery of the Making Waves program and adherence of the team to the Making Waves Core Values. Supervisors take ownership of the family experience and do Whatever it Takes to ensure our families have a great swimming lesson experience Supervisors are present on deck, spend time in the water, and ensure overall family satisfaction. Supervisors train, assist, mentor, and cheer for Aquatic and Administrative staff Supervisors perform the role of “Acting Facility Manager” for their shift, in the absence of the Facility Manager. Supervisors must demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, leadership and communication skills, customer service skills and have a collaborative team-centric approach. Supervisors must understand the Little Waves and Big Waves program and embody the Company Core Values.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Staff Management**
- Provide supervision and leadership to a shift of staff including Head Coaches, Coaches and Administrative staff
- Providing ongoing coaching and performance management focusing on both positive reinforcement through CHEER, in addition to constructive performance planning
- Mentor staff to achieve key performance measures
- Regularly check-in with staff before and after staff shifts to discuss performance, development plans, innovation and upcoming opportunities.
- Tracks staff attendance and enters staff time entry following payroll procedures
- Assist Facility Manager in supporting employee engagement plans across the facility team.
- Leads by example, including offering support to Head Coaches and Coaches in-water and on-deck during lessons to ensure quality program delivery and Making Waves program standards are met.

**Daily Shift Operation**:

- Implement company KPIs and key metrics as assigned
- Oversee customer and staff satisfaction scores for all assigned staff and develop action plans to achieve better results.
- Conduct regular operational audits and quality assurance checklists to ensure we are delivering the quality program to our families
- Responsible for opening and closing facility procedures and completing all required facility operational requirements
- Complete all required daily shift reports including but not limited to: opening and closing procedures, transactional reporting, enrollment reporting, and maintenance reporting.
- Adheres to pool water testing procedures (mandated within every 2 hours) including troubleshooting which may include minor chemical adjustments, “dump and fill” procedure, filter room inspections, etc.
- Provide advice and guidance to the Facility Manager regarding projects/program, Family Experience, and Staff Experience opportunities.
- Manage the emergency procedure process including but not limited to: injury, facility malfunction, fire, power outage, pool fouling, etc.
- Maintains and ensures a safe, clean and organized facility space for both on-stage and off-stage areas

**Customer Service and Family Experience**
- Foster a culture to ensure that all families “are happy, had a great lesson, and are excited to come back”

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Embodies Making Waves Core Values
- Completed Making Waves Coach Course
- Completed Making Waves Parent & Tot Course
- Current Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard (Pool) certification
- Current Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructors certification
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification
- WHMIS Certification
- Young Workers Awareness Training _(if under 25 years of age) _
- Ministry of Labour: Supervisor Training
- Experience as a Making Waves Coach, Head Coach, and Customer Service Representative _(an asset) _
- Additional experience in aquatic industry _(an asset) _
