Position Overview

The Room Checker will be responsible for inspecting guestrooms to ensure they are exceeding cleanliness standards. Additionally, the Room Checker will identify and report any maintenance or repair issues and ensure Housekeeping supplies are well stocked, so the Housekeeping teams have all the necessary tools to ensure high cleanliness standards. The Room Checker will also be cross trained in Housekeeping, House person and Laundry tasks in order to understand cleanliness standards in these areas and assist when required.

Key Responsibilities
- Opening and closing of Housekeeping department.
- Preparing room lists for housekeepers when needed
- Ensuring end of day paperwork is completed accurately.
- Conducts full inspections of each room everyday ensuring Larga Baffin’s quality standards are met
- Monitor inventory levels and complete an inventory count every month, inputs and compiles inventory data when necessary.
- Checks room for improvements, efficiencies, and deficiencies
- Checks under bed, drawers, and closet for left behind articles and or trash
- Arranges furniture following use by guests if out of place
- Ensure housekeepers are well stocked with necessary supplies and equipment
- Communicates room changes and transfers between Client-Care and Housekeeping
- Supports and assists the Housekeeping, House person & Laundry teams s required.
- Provide support for departmental meetings. For example, note taking and scheduling.

Minimum Job Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year or of housekeeping experience

- Exceptional attention to detail to ensure quality standards are met.
- Adaptable to change and be able to handle multiple priorities under pressure.
- Eager and focused to exceed guest expectations
- Exhibits a positive, friendly can-do attitude
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work individually and within a team
- Experience with unions and collective agreements
- Solid organization skills and ability to manage time and deadlines
- Strong knowledge of office procedures and practices
- Meticulous and demonstrated a high level of discretion with sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to responds quickly an in a dynamic and changing environment

Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingualism (Inuktitut and English) is a strong asset
- High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment

Work Conditions
- Operation of desktop computer and peripherals
- Interaction with employees, management and the public at large
- Working in a busy office environment and frequent interruptions
- Occasional overtime
