**Position Summary**:
AF105W is a large first-year course with a cap of 200 students. It teaches writing across the disciplines in the Social Sciences and Humanities. Students will attend two hours of lecture each week and one hour of tutorial with an IA. The instructor will be responsible for overseeing initial training of IAs on topics such as lesson planning and delivery for tutorials, providing effective feedback on written work, and using rubrics. The focus of the course is to help students develop foundational descriptive and evaluative writing skills including summarizing, paraphrasing, and developing arguments. Students will develop a knowledge of different strategies for writing clearly, concisely and with correct grammar. Numerous low stakes writing assignments will provide students with opportunities to develop their foundational skills.
