**Company Background**

West Nile Virus (WNV) is a mosquito-borne illness that has the potential to affect human health. It was first introduced to North America in 1999, and in 2002 the first human case of WNV infection was confirmed in Ontario. In 2004, and in response to an emerging threat, the Canadian Centre for Mosquito Management Inc. (CCMM) formed a partnership with Public Health Units across Southern Ontario to develop a fully integrated program of surveillance, public education, and vector management. Mosquito larviciding remains a key component of this vector management strategy, and in particular, the abatement of mosquitoes in the extensive network of storm-water catch basins and in surface waters located on public properties. CCMM is a company that is dedicated to the single purpose of mosquito control. This unique focus has helped us to become one of the largest mosquito control providers in Canada.

**Position Summary**

We are looking for hard-working individuals for our West Nile Virus mosquito control programs in the following areas: York Region, Toronto, Durham Region, Middlesex-London, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph, and Chatham-Kent. The employment term is from early June until the end of August. Biological Technicians can expect to work 40 hours/week, and can expect their work to begin early in the day, with some weekend work and travel to neighbouring municipalities required, therefore a flexible schedule is a must.

**Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI)**

The Canadian Centre for Mosquito Management Inc. (CCMM) is a Canadian founded company that acknowledges the importance of incorporating the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of our programming, hiring, and services. CCMM recognizes that a company that operates with a focus on EDI principles will function at a higher level; offer greater diversity in perspectives, ideas, and creativity; contribute to overall satisfaction of employees and clients who feel valued and included; and, contribute to propelling Canadian business in a sustainable direction. As an active member of the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program, CCMM strives to provide a safe, inclusive, and healthy work environment free from harassment and discrimination. CCMM recruits with diversity in mind, providing opportunity to those from underrepresented groups - women, racialized minorities, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities and members of LGBTQ2+communities. Furthermore, CCMM is a proud member of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB), which aims to build relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous businesses and communities, and helps to foster a sustainable and equitable economy across Canada.
