**Psychologist** (part-time FTE or contract position):
London Family Court Clinic (LFCC) is a growing organization looking for great people. LFCC has extensive expertise in working with high-risk youth and their families.
**What we need**
A Registered Psychologist to join us on a part-time basis to support our Youth Justice Assessment Team. You will use your specialized knowledge and skills to assess court involved youth who are referred through the Youth Court as well as provide consultation to the assessment team.
**In this role, you will provide**:
Psychological assessment and guidance to the assessment team involved with the referred case, for the purpose of completing a Court ordered psychological report (s.34 report as outlined in the YCJA).
**Required Skills Include**:
- determining psychological testing and interview needs
- identifying the immediate needs of young people and supporting safety
- liaising with interdisciplinary team members and promoting positive communication related to the assessment process
- establishing positive working relationship with court officials as needed
- completing written reports according to the provided format in a timely manner
- practicing in accordance with the College of Psychologists of Ontario Practice Standards and Ministry and Court expectations as well as the policies and procedures of LFCC
**Qualifications**:
- Registered Psychologist in Ontario with competence and experience in Clinical work with Adolescents (in good standing)
- Experience and interest in working with high-risk youth
- Forensic knowledge and experience is an asset
- Driver’s license and car are beneficial
**Mental Health Knowledge and Experience**:
- You have a strong knowledge-base related to adolescent development and mental health, awareness of community resources, evidence-based practices and the treatment needs of marginalized and high-risk youth
- You can elicit, interpret and evaluate information from youth and their families and other sources and draw conclusions to contribute toward formulation discussions and meaningful written recommendations
- You can consult on emergency situations and support appropriate responses and reporting needs
**Effective Communication Skills**:
- You can present information in a clear and concise manner in written reports as well as adapt your communication skills to provide information to a diverse population of youth and families
- You can work collaboratively with others, such as with the inter-disciplinary team and community agency professionals
- You can effectively engage and encourage youth to participate and to work toward their goals
- You have strong writing skills to produce reports with clear Court imposed deadlines
**Hours of Work**:
This is a part-time FTE or a contract position that would involve weekly hours of service between Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. The successful applicant can negotiate service hours according to the required flexibility.
LFCC offers a work environment that promotes work/life balance.
This position includes administrative supports as well as an interdisciplinary team model for assessment services.
