**Responsibilities**:

- Work with the Health Director, Community Health Representative or designate to create monthly menus paying particular attention to the nutritional needs of clients with chronic illnesses (e.g., diabetes).
- Prepare and package meals using Food Safe Procedures and deliver meals directly to the client in the home. Lunches are provided to clients on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Dinners are provided on Mondays and Wednesdays unless otherwise noted by the Supervisor and approved in advance by Administration. The MOW Coordinator does not work on Friday. No meal service is provided on Fridays unless otherwise noted and approved in advance.
- Serve clients in a respectful and caring way. Food will NOT be left outside the client’s home at any time, unless otherwise requested by the client and in this case, in a closed container with no exceptions.
- Communicate with clients regarding menu plans; store leftovers according to Food Safe procedures.
- Use leftovers in a timely fashion and in accordance with safe food handling procedures.
- Perform inventory counts and turnover; collect all delivery containers.
- Prepare grocery list, shop and be responsible for submitting receipts to the Finance Department for reimbursement.
- On a regular basis, work with the Nutritionist to enhance knowledge and skills for preparing foods.
- Participate in relevant training when available and applicable.
- Participate in relevant staff meetings; participate in monthly community luncheons.
- Record daily meal preparation in the requested Log Book.
- Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as requested and needed.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in a similar role.
- Grade 10 or equivalent; valid Food Safe Certificate - all Levels.
- Valid WHIMS Certificate; satisfactory Criminal Record Check and a Drug Test.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Knowledgeable of the nutritional needs of people with chronic illnesses (e.g., diabetics, arthritic clients, clients who have cancer or heart problems).
- Thorough knowledge of the methods of preparing meats and vegetables.
- Thorough knowledge of cooking times and temperatures for various foods and methods of preserving nutritional value.
- Thorough knowledge and experience in gathering, preparing and preserving traditional foods.
- Excellent personal hygiene; excellent knowledge of the principles of food sanitation.
- Ability to perform physical labour-type duties; flexible, committed and enthusiastic.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination; excellent level of physical fitness and health.
- Proven ability to maintain confidential information and files.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to establish rapport with people of all educational and occupational backgrounds; a strong commitment to working in a safe and clean manner.
