**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Manager or designate, for the majority of time performs skilled journeyman level plumbing work for a multi-site operation. Installs, alters and repairs plumbing systems; installs, tests, maintains and repairs natural gas lines, appliances, equipment and accessories; inspects and tests cross connection and backflow prevention systems. Directs work assignments for a crew of two or more plumbers, contractors, apprentices and labourers, and performs related administrative duties.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification as a Journeyman Plumber; Class B level Gas Fitters License with an electrical endorsement recognized by the Province of BC. Valid Certificate of Competency as a Cross Connection Control Specialist issued by the American Water Works Association, BC Section. Four year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Class 5 BC driver's license.

- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to supervise.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
