The BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) offers interesting and varied articles at its Crown Counsel offices around the province. The BCPS is now hiring for a temporary summer bilingual articled student who would be expected to start in May 2025.

Under the guidance of Crown Counsel, students work on files relating to criminal prosecutions.

Students articling with BC Prosecution Service work closely with prosecutors in all aspects of trial work, both at the provincial and Supreme Court levels. Students may be asked to do legal research, assist in interviewing witnesses, appear at arraignment hearings, handle disclosure, and assist in the preparation of witness examinations and arguments. They will assume conduct of trials of summary conviction matters and bail hearings, and will often make other court appearances. Students may also be requested to assist in the preparation of appeals, either of summary conviction or indictable matters. Students will be exposed to all aspects of a prosecutor’s work, including providing advice to police during the course of an investigation, reviewing reports to Crown Counsel and assisting in charge approval. Bilingual articled students are expected to perform the accountabilities of their role in both French and English.

**Who Can Apply**
Anyone who is currently enrolled in Law School in Canada who will have completed their second year by May 2025. Must be eligible to work in Canada. Must be able to speak and write fluently in French and English.

Students should be prepared to live in or near the community where they have accepted an articling position for the articling term.
