THE ROLE
We are actively looking for a Manager, Tax, to join our Tax Team, reporting to the Senior Director, Tax. The incumbent will be responsible for helping support tax compliance.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Responsibilities include:
- Work with custodian to manage Capital Markets tax recoveries.
- Work with external advisors to prepare SLFI GST/HST and T2 tax returns.
- Prepare T5s and T4A-NR slips.
- Assess K1s and related source data to manage US tax compliance process.
- Draft memoranda to support tax filing positions.
- Liaise with Corporate Finance to remit tax and quarterly instalments to the tax authorities.
- Research technical tax issues and summarize findings in memorandum.
- Assist with day-to-day delivery of tax projects and support tax deliverables using a variety of technologies and tools.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing tax processes.
- Use technology to find solutions to improve processes.
- Remain up to date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years working at an accounting firm.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel VBA, Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Query).
- Any experience with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) products or Alteryx would be an asset.
